IONICON is a proud sponsor of Gordon Research Conferences
We support young researchers at two GRCs in 2012
The Gordon Research Conferences provide an international forum for the presentation and discussion of frontier research in the biological, chemical, and physical sciences, and their related technologies.
Two GRCs closely related to our own scientific research and PTR-MS are now supported by IONICON in order to give young researchers the opportunity to present their work to the scientific community.
These days the GRC for Plant Volatiles takes place in Ventura, CA, January 29 – February 3, 2012 and has as topics: Ecology, Biosynthesis, Regulation and Animal Perception of Floral and Vegetative Volatiles, Plus their Roles in Human Flavor and Agriculture.
IONICON at 6th Future Security, Security Research Conference
IONICON science manager, Dr. Philipp Sulzer will co-chair the session A3 Detection of hazardous Material and give a lecture.
Terrorism, organized crime and sabotage, but also natural disasters and technological accidents can cause serious damage and disruption with long-lasting consequences for economies and the quality of life.
The 6th Future Security, Security Research Conference will take place 5. -7. September 2011 in Berlin, Germany and has the aim to bring together the decision makers in politics, industry and finance with scientists working on leading edge and innovative concepts, sensors or systems for civil security.
Philipp Sulzer will chair the session Detection of Hazardous Material on Tuesday September 6 from 9:00 to 10:20 and give a lecture with the title: Detection and Identification of illicit and Hazardous Substances with Proton-Transfer-Reaction Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS).

Meet us at the ASMS conference June 5-9, booth # 138 and see what’s new at IONICON
The 59th ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics will take place June 5 – 9, 2011 in Denver, CO.
The American Society for Mass Spectrometry expects more than 6,500 scientists to attend their annual conference and we’re again part of this major mass spectrometry event.
This is going to be a hot PTR-MS summer with product launches and lots of new developments at IONICON. Usually readers of our blog will be first to know but this is going to be an exception… I suggest you come by our booth, have a chat with me and I promise to give you some news and updates before I tell them to anybody else…
Visit us at booth # 138 and have a look at our posters:
Scientific Poster: Recent developments in Proton-Transfer-Reaction Mass Spectrometry leading to new fields of application (e.g. illicit and designer drugs detection)
Date: Thursday, June 9th , 2011 No: ThP03 – Instrumentation: New Concepts, poster number: 049, Thursday, Poster Hall
Corporate Poster: Overview and introduction to PTR-MS, its applications and our products.
See you in Denver!

Get in touch with PTR-MS! We’re looking forward to meet you soon.
PTR-MS Conference and Training Course now fully booked
We’re glad to announce that the 5th edition of International PTR-MS Conference and hands-on PTR-MS 2011 receive strong support from the PTR-MS community.
Shortly before the holiday season starts and you hopefully can relax with your family and friends I would like to thank all participants for their registration to the PTR-MS Conference and the IONICON training course 2011!
We’re looking forward to welcome 33 colleagues coming from 13 nations to join us in Innsbruck, Austria at the end of January 2011 for a comprehensive IONICON PTR-MS training course. The Institute of Ion Physics and Applied Physics of the University of Innsbruck is expecting about 120 participants to the PTR-MS Conference that is taking place directly after hands-on PTR-MS 2011 at the university centre in Obergurgl, Austria where all rooms are now fully booked.
In a little more than one month the PTR-MS community will gather at the biennial meeting that is celebrating its 5th edition in 2011 and we’re preparing an interesting program for you…
The very successful PTR-MS conference series and IONICON training course were introduced in 2003 when we saw the demand for an event where the PTR-MS community that is scattered all over the world gets together for a week and exchanges results from the various fields of research PTR-MS is used for.
With this exciting outlook to the first month of 2011, the IONICON team would like to wish you a Merry XMAS and a Happy New Year!
IONICON presents PTR-MS at a conference in Brussels
The “Emissions and odours from materials” conference took place in Brussels from October 13-14, 2010.
PTR-MS is an ideal and versatile technology for the real-time quantification of VOCs in very low concentrations (sub pptv-range). This is the reason why PTR-MS is used e.g. in a product called the AMC-Monitor C-1000 for monitoring of critical compounds in the semiconductor industry. PTR-MS is also used in different studies of the air quality in simulated and real flight situations.
We held a talk about the PTR-MS technology, instrumentation, new developments and presented some application examples to the attendees of this two-days event. The main focus lay on VOCs emissions from materials in indoor air and controlled environments such as cleanrooms.
The participants were predominately specialists from the industry and scientists from academic institutions and had the chance to test PTR-MS themselves when visiting our exhibition corner.
